Jacksonville sprang up during the gold fever of 1851
and today there are over 80 historic buildings from the
gold rush days, many of which have been preserved or restored
to their original state. In 1966, the entire town of Jacksonville
was designated a National Historic Landmark by the U.S.
Department of the Interior. It showcases it's history
well and makes for some great shopping. If you can't travel
there in person still visit this interesting City through
it's website. |
